The Serial Interface unit (model EX500-S001) is a fieldbus-enabled interface module that connects SMC's valve manifolds and input units to gateways (e.g., DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, EtherNet/IP). It supports up to 4 branches, each handling up to 16 outputs (totaling 64 outputs) and matching number of inputs. Specifically designed for use with SV series solenoid valves, it features NPN (positive common) outputs, operates at 24 VDC, and supplies up to 0.65 A per connected branch. The unit is IP65 rated (IP67 when manifold-mounted), CE-marked, UL-approved, and operates reliably between 5 °C and 45 °C (storage: –25 °C to 70 °C, 35–85 % RH). It includes LEDs for power and communication status and comes with a waterproof cap for unused connectors.
